Random thoughts on Keto

Late last week I hit the 30 lbs mark. Ideally I’d like to drop another 20 in order to be back at a good racing weight. Since December I’ve been off an on with my strictness on the Keto diet and it shows. Very slow and unstable weight loss…down a pound here, up two pounds there. Carb binge days occur more frequently than I’d like but the weight eventually stabilizes and then starts going back down again. It’s on days like today though that I am surprised at the effectiveness of carbohydrate restriction combined with upping fat intake…

 

Breakfast:

3 cups of Bulletproof coffee – freshed brewed coffee, 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream, 1 tablespoon MCT oil, 2 tablespoons Torani vanilla sugar-free syrup. Just one cup is over 200 calories and 19g of fat so the three cups I had today will be 600 calories and 57 grams of fat.

3 slices of bacon

3 eggs (with a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream) fried in the bacon grease of the aforementioned slices of bacon. All topped with melted cheese.

Two tsp of Fish Oil.

At this point it’s best not to even try to comprehend the amount of fat I’m putting into my body, not to mention the fact that I do this routine more or less daily. Tonight I’m making a tri-tip roast in the slow cooker that will likely be paired with veggies drowning in butter. This is my diet….Keto FTW.
